She Came With A Cookie

T

Three pm and we finally get Claudia! There are five other couples with us when we go to civil affairs to pick up our children. For most of them, this is their first child after years of trying to have children and emotion floods the room - as may be expected. Claudia comes with a cookie which she holds all the way back to the hotel. She is quiet and tiny, but observant and active.
Once we are back at the hotel it is on to the ordinary activities of parenthood - changing the diaper and playing with her in the hotel hallway. The hotel is full of parents adopting children and a couple from Maine on our floor has just adopted a young boy who has lost his arm. Eventually Claudia drops the cookie on the floor. We go to dinner where she eats a bowl of conge and falls asleep at the table. She wakes up and we take her back to the room where we put her in her pajamas and put her to bed. We get her to smile for us and laugh a few times. She falls asleep peacefully - unlike a certain little guy who knows who he is. Now we count the days until we can get her back home to the rest of her family.

She is the most beautiful baby ever, even Mike had tears in his eyes when he read that. Welcome to the family little Claudia, you have amazing parents and a big brother who may not go to bed easy, but lightens up the room with his enthusiasm. I can't wait to meet her.

She is adorable. We are all so excited to meet here. Genna is so excited to meet her new cousin that she is running around the house yelling Claudia, Claudia, Claudia.

Sorry for the anonymous comment but I am new to this blogging thing. At least I put Genna's name in the comment so you could figure out who it was from. Again, we are very excited for you! Can't wait to see all of you.

Finally! Congratulations! Enjoy every minute with her. I hope we get to meet her at the office! My mom said if Brian tells us when she's coming, she'll bring Jenna the same day so they can play.

Congratulations! She is great with big eyes and ears! Can't wait to see you back in Joisey and tell us about China - I'm sure Brian's Economist was confiscated and banned by authorities. Country has changed enormously since i first visited in 1987 when you arrived at an airport with nothing but a 1950s communist style look, not much outside and a lot of guards and soldiers in uniform and their commanders smoking cigs checking you out. You're in Canton area so the Cantonese food you will probably get to enjoy - better than Chinatown! Roast pork, roast chicken, seafood galore.
